It's official: Michael Strahan is Kelly Ripa's new co-host. Although his appointment was already widely reported, Live! with Kelly and Michael became a reality on Tuesday morning. Kelly kicked off the show with the big announcement, telling the audience: "It gives me great pleasure to introduce to you the newest member of our Live! family. We are honored to have him here: Michael Strahan!" Michael graciously accepted the position, saying, "You know what, I am speechless. (Kelly) Yeah, I mean, I've missed you so much. I've really missed you. (Michael) And that's mutual, and I adore you and I am so happy to be here and be a part of this. Thank you Gelman, thank you Dave Davis, everyone involved to bring me here. You know how they say it's a dream come true? I truly can't say that because I didn't even know I could dream this." Strahan, 40, is a former New York Giants defensive end. He replaces Regis Philbin, who left the show last November after 28 years on the air. Other contenders for the job included Seth Meyers, Josh Groban and Neil Patrick Harris.
