New Jersey is turning against the ladies who have made the state famous -- or infamous -- over the past few years. The mayor of Hoboken has rejected MTV's request to film Snooki and Jwoww's spinoff in the city. The mayor, Dawn Zimmer, sent a letter to the network saying, "Based on protecting public safety and quality of life concerns for Hoboken residents, the city has denied a film permit for a spin-off of the 'Jersey Shore' to be filmed in public locations." She added, "Any attempts to film in a manner that is not permitted without a permit will be dealt with immediately and aggressively by the city of Hoboken." This isn't the first time that Jersey lawmakers have turned their back on MTV. Last fall, Governor Chris Christie blocked a $420,000 tax credit for production, explaining that he was "duty-bound" to ensure that taxpayers are not footing a bill "for a project which does nothing more than perpetuate misconceptions about the state and its citizens."
