Nice legs
From this week's episode of Gossip Girl. Do Blake Lively's legs look hairy to you? I realize she has net leggings on (or whatever they're called), but uhh... still... awkward?

Thinking about buying Packer stock?
altText

There might be some strings attached! And it's not the same thing as buying what we think of as stock that's going to give you a sweet financial return. According to a story I read in Yahoo Sports today, stock in the Packers isn't an investment. It doesn't rise or fall like something you'd buy from a broker. Buying Packer stock only gets you a certificate of ownership, nominal voting rights, and the ability to tell your friends that you own a sliver of the Packers. And yeah, the purchase comes with a TON of rules. You can see the 12 pages of rules and restrictions at http://packersowner.com.

House From Home Alone -- Want it?
altText
Doesn't the house look different on the inside? More modern, right? It's on the market for $1.95 million, reduced from the original asking price of $2.5 million. Any takers? Neither of those seems really high for a house that was used in a movie as big as Home Alone!

The Most Shoplifted Items During the Holidays
altText

Filet mignon.... really?! How do you even go about stealing that? Kinda hard to miss someone walking out of the store with a piece of steak right?

1. Filet mignon

So many people are tucking choice cuts of meats under their jackets that supermarkets are now considered the stores with the most theft.

2. Jameson

Those with an unquenchable thirst for booze just help themselves to a free bottle of expensive liquor.

3. Electric tools
Apparently the the most common items men nab are electric toothbrushes and power tools. At least they're fighting cavities.

4. iPhone 4
Electronics like smartphones and video games are high risk items, and one research group claims 100,000 laptops are stolen annually from big box stores.

5. Gillette Mach 4

Anyone who uses non-disposable razors knows they're pretty expensive, so in tough financial times people don't want to pay for them anymore.

6. Axe
The men's deodorant and body wash we love to hate are often stolen in mass quantities and resold at flea markets and corner stores. Dial is popular amongst thieves too.

7. Polo Ralph Lauren
Clothing theft is up 31 percent since 2009. It's hard to look good in a bad economy, so some score fresh threads the illegal way.

8. Let's Rock Elmo
The Sesame Street toy topped the Toys'R'Us "Hot Toys" list this year, so parents are stealing this must-have toy for their kids if they can't afford it.

9. Chanel No. 5

Who wouldn't love a bottle of this popular woman's fragrance? Expensive perfumes make up nearly four percent of loss in stores that carry them.

10. Nikes

As Ad Week points out, some shoppers wear flip-flops into a store, try on a pair of sneakers, and walk out wearing them. Sneaker heads will do whatever it takes to score the kicks on their wish list.

Q&A From Match.com
altText
Liked this Q&A about how to charm (and how not to charm females).

Q: What is the number-one mistake that men make when trying to impress women?

A: When men feel insecure, they sometimes compensate by acting arrogantly or being grandiose. As much as bragging about your car, house or big bank account might initially get a woman's attention, it will soon thereafter be a major turn-off. Women like confidence and security, but they know that when those qualities are real, a man doesn't have to throw them around for show to impress anyone.

Q: What else would you warn men away from doing?

A: Another thing healthy women find unappealing is when a man is too needy, i.e., grabbing for too much of her attention and affection. That kind of behavior communicates that there is not much else going on for him in terms of friendships or intimate relations.

Q: But don't many women want to be "needed" by men?

A: Sure, but there's a fine line between "needing" a woman and being "needy." No self-respecting lady wants to be the man's "everything" in life! It is simply too much of a burden — and an impossible one to fulfill. If you want to find a loving, well-rounded, happy female partner, you need to be loving, well-rounded, and happy on your own and in your own unique ways as a man.

Q: How much does a man's physical appearance count in terms of charming a woman?

A: Women value men who take care of themselves, just as men admire the same quality in women. If he eats well, exercises, and takes a little time to think about what he is wearing, it shows he has self-respect and honors the body that was given to him. The subtext of this behavior is: "I like myself enough to present myself well and make sure I have the energy to live life to the fullest."

Q: OK, what would you say is the one way a man can charm any woman? What's his best bet on that front?

A: First and foremost, nearly any woman loves an attentive man who values her thoughts, opinions, and feelings. You've probably heard it numerous times, but it's the truth: Women want to feel heard and considered seriously by men. It's not that a woman is just looking for someone to agree with her; she wants to know that how she approaches life has an impact on him, she she also wants to know that her ideas have been taken in and digested… hence, she matters and makes a difference in his life.

Q: May I play devil's advocate and ask why then are so many women seemingly charmed by jerks?

A: Often, it's a function of one's personal psychology. Much of that kind of attraction has to do with being drawn to what hasn't yet been worked out from someone's childhood wounds or painful experiences. People are often attracted to the very thing that will bring up their old issues; it's the wisdom of the unconscious pushing us to confront the things that need to be addressed and healed in our personal lives. In this case, the old "it's not you, it's me" excuse actually does come into play quite a bit.

Q: Interesting! Last question: There are some men that women are just instantly drawn to... what's their secret?

A: There is nothing more magnetic to love than love itself. When a man loves his life, his friends, and his job, he is incredibly magnetic. Additionally, when he is as nice to the janitor as he is to the CEO of his company, he shows heart... and most women are always drawn to kind men; I believe it's human nature. Ultimately, a man who is genuinely — and that's the key: genuinely — attentive, considerate, kind and chivalrous will always be able to captivate a woman.

Jason Derulo interview... how he avoids the egos
altText

Derulo venting about irritating producers!

NEW YORK -- Jason Derulo's message to hit songwriters and producers: Check your egos at the door!

The 22-year-old singer, whose 2010 self-titled debut was produced by J.R. Rotem, wanted to challenge himself on his new album, so he held recording sessions with other producers.

Things didn't always go smoothly.

"Some of these people were walking in with these huge egos and they haven't really done anything and I'm like, `I'm not really with that, man,'" said Derulo, best known for hits like "Whatcha Say" and "In My Head." "I can't really get down like that."

"Future History" still features Rotem, but also includes RedOne, The-Dream and DJ Frank E. It debuted at No. 29 on the Billboard charts last month.

___

The Associated Press: So some sessions didn't go well?

Derulo: I'm a fan of a lot of other producers and their work, so I wanted to kind of dive in and see what that was like. So I worked with a lot of people (and in) some instances it didn't work because I'm really not into working with people I don't have, like, a special connection with. ... So it has to be a friendly connection as well as business connection as well as a creative connection to make great material.

AP: What would happen after it didn't work out?

Derulo: So usually if I meet somebody and we don't click, I just won't finish the session. I'll be like, "Maybe we can do this another time" and they'll never hear from me again.

AP: How was RedOne?

Derulo: He's somebody that's so down to earth ... a lot of these other people could take some notes. ... Just yesterday he was texting me, "Hey, did you see the response on our songs? It's amazing. It's a smash." He's like, "I'm so excited." Like, he still has that same excitement as he did in the beginning, and that's incredible.

AP: So the song "Be Careful" is about a stalker?

Derulo: I had a stalker situation where I met this girl and it started off as something that I thought would be some kind of, I don't know what to call it, fling. But it just turned out to be something totally different and she was following me around the world.

AP: Were you hesitant about writing the song since she was stalking you?

Derulo: I'm never hesitant about writing a song. It doesn't really matter what it is. If you don't want a song written about you, you should probably not be in my life (laughs). I'm going to write songs about anything. I've had girls sit in the studio with me and they just burst into tears because I literally will tell the whole story how it is, you know what I mean? Whether it's painful or not.

AP: How did "It Girl" come about?

Derulo: It definitely was one of those songs that kind of just like rolled off the tongue and I haven't found my "it girl" yet, but you know, I know she's out there somewhere.

AP: What was it like recording "Breathing," which is uptempo but is also about your cousin's death?

Derulo: It's partly about my cousin's passing and partly about a relationship I was in. ...It has a positive-negative vibe to it. If you're going through something you don't have to dwell in it. You can pick yourself up and that was the thought process behind writing this song and during the recording process, during the writing process it was pretty emotional and pretty rough for me ...I was actually in tears when I was making the record.

AP: Are you going on tour?

Derulo: I'm starting my tour in February ... going to the U.K. then Australia and I think I'm going to come to America after. I'm excited because we're doing these huge rooms and there's a lot of things that I wanted to do that I couldn't do because I was new artist and the budgets weren't there, or the venues weren't big enough that I was playing at. But now selling out these 15,000-seaters across the world is really exciting. I can spread my wings.

AP: Who are you listening to on your iPod?

Derulo: I've actually been listening to my album a lot.
