New Species Make Their Debut at Milwaukee County Zoo!

June 26, 2017

If you're looking for adorable new animals to see at the Milwaukee County Zoo... you've got your wish!

Two new species have made their debut at the zoo recently. Aria is a yellow-backed duiker (a kind of African antelope) that moved to Milwaukee from the Memphis Zoo in November, and made her public debut a few weeks ago. Additionally, three Thomson's gazelles made their public debut in late May after arriving from the San Diego Zoo in April. (Their names are Alvin, Simon and Theodore - how cute is that?!)

Populations of both Thomson's gazelles and yellow-backed duikers are decreasing in Africa, so having these species at the Milwaukee zoo is pretty special.
