Blimp Crashes Near U.S. Open

June 16, 2017

It was one of the biggest stories coming out of Erin Hills yesterday... and it wasn't even affiliated with the U.S. Open.

A blimp (unaffiliated with the U.S. Open or broadcast affiliate FOX Sports) crashed in a farm field close to the Erin Hills golf course yesterday. The fireball from the ensuing explosion caught the eye of spectators and golfers alike.

Reports say that the pilot, Trevor Thompson, suffered some burns as a result of the crash and explosion, but he's expected to make a full recovery. Thompson says that strong wind gusts were a main cause of the crash.
