That Sucks

There is nothing worse than thinking that you just won $50,000 and then finding out that you didn't.  Well, that's what happened to this poor guy.....a 24-year-old St. Louis optometry student was playing the half-time game where you must make a half court shot  in order to win $50,000.  Well, the game rules are that you must make a lay-up, free throw, three pointer and then a half court shot--in that order.  The poor guy made the lay-up, free throw and half court shot, but forgot the 3-pointer.  Too bad he didn't realize this until AFTER he started celebrating.  Watch the embarassing video here!

Who Knew The Finalists Were From Wisconsin??

So we were talking about the Frito-Lay contest where you got to pick the newest name for the next Lay's chip.  Well, it turns out that TWO of the three finalists are from Wisconsin!  Christina Abu-Judom, who created the Chicken and Waffles flavor, is from Brookfield.  Karen Weber-Mendham, who created the cheesy garlic bread flavor, is from Milwaukee and graduated from Wauwatosa East High School.  Pretty cool!  The winner either gets $1 Million or 1% of all sales from their chip, whichever one is higher.  To see the actual finalists and read more about them, click here!

Did You Want The Badger Coaching Job?

When Bret Bielama quit his job as the head coach for the Badger football team, many different people wanted his job, including ordinary folk just like us!  The university advertised the job on its human resources website and many dreamers put their applications in.  A website has now shown some of the applicants via public records request from people who did not request anonymity. Among the applications you can find résumés for Utah State coach Gary Andersen, who wound up getting the job.  Other applicants were marginally less qualified. Those include a local Walgreen's pharmacist, a recent college graduate who was the captain of his football team, a veteran FedEx driver, an executive recruiter who played one season of Division III baseball, and a lawyer who listed among his "relevant experience" the fact that he has "excelled in various fantasy baseball and football leagues."  To see the fascinating list of people who applied and the cover letter they submitted, click here!

Did You Go One Of These Places?

Facebook reported Wednesday on the top 10 places that received the most "check-ins" on the social media site in 2012, and revealed that seven of them were baseball stadiums, topped by AT&T Park, home of the World Series champion San Francisco Giants. Why so many baseball stadium check-ins? The Yahoo! Sports blog Big League Stew says it makes sense because of the sport's long season and large ballparks. The 10 most-checked-in sites were:
  1. Times Square
  2. Disneyland
  3. At&T Park
  4. Yankee Stadium
  5. Rangers Ballpark
  6. Fenway Park (Boston Red Sox)
  7. Dodger Stadium
  8. Universal Studios Florida
  9. Wrigley Field (Chicago Cubs)
  10. Angel Stadium

Who Made Barb's List This Year?

Barbara Walters took some time on Monday's episode of The View to reveal some of her picks for her annual top 10 Most Fascinating People of 2012 list. She mentioned seven of the noteworthy names who she will be sitting down with during her special airing on December 12.  Though she will not announce her top pick until the special airs, the list already boasts some names that made an undeniable splash this year. Fifty Shades of Grey author E.L. James, Olympian Gabby Douglas, and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie are just a few of the people she will be interviewing.  When her co-hosts asked her why Honey Boo Boo wasn't mentioned, Barbara admitted that despite being 'fascinating' and a 'phenomenon' not everyone could make the list.  Ben Affleck, Hilary Clinton, Seth MacFarlane, and One Direction are also on her list.  Any ideas on who the Most Fascinating Person is??

An Oldie But A Goodie

Since Sabrina Bryan(the Cheetah girl) was kicked off of Dancing With The Stars this week, I thought I would pull out an old pic of her with us.  This is from her first go-round on DWTS when Mark Ballas was her partner and you might remember(or not) that the two were dating at the time.  So enjoy!

Ruh Roh....

Well, we all know that Avril Lavigne is now engaged to the lead singer of Nickelback, Chad Kroeger, but remember when she was married for a hot minute to the lead singer of Sum 41, Derek Whibley?  Well, Derek took a chance to make fun of her and her new fiance by dressing up like them for Halloween!  Apparently Chad Kroeger didn't see the humor because he responded on Twitter by saying, "Hey Deryck loved the costumes! We were going to dress up as you guys this year but all the parties had celebrity themes."  To see them dressed up as Avril and Chad, click here!

Should Cheerleading Be A Sport?

We were discussing this morning....turns out that the American Academy of Pediactrics says that cheerleading has become as athletic and potentially dangerous as a sport and should be considered as one in order to improve safety.  They are asking school sports associations to designate cheerleading as a sport and make it subject to safety rules and better supervision, which would include on-site athletic trainers, limits on practice time, and better qualified coaches. The policy statement also says that, just like other athletes, cheerleaders should be required to do conditioning exercises and undergo physical exams before joining the squad. The number of cheerleaders injured annually has risen dramatically in the last two decades, with risks from common stunts including tossing and flipping cheerleaders and creating tall human pyramids. Do you think they should make it a sport??

Blast From The Past!

Remember these??  We were talking about the most awesome toys from our childhood today and the viewmaster was on the list.  Took a second for us to remember exactly what it was, but once we remembered the memories flowed like wine.  Love it!
