On Wednesday, November 7th, Modern Family star Ariel Winter, who plays Alex Dunphy, filed legal papers to have her older sister, Shanelle Gray, become her legal guardian. The 14 year-old is accusing her mother, Crystal Workman, of being physically and emotionally abusive. She alleges that her mother slapped and pushed her, used vile name calling, and personal insults over an extended period of time. The family is due in court on November 20th. A judge ordered her to be removed from the home and her mom has been told to stay at least 100 yards away from her. On a side note, nearly two decades ago, the Department of Children and Family Services removed Ariel's sister, Shanelle, from Crystal's home based on similar abuse allegations. Law enforcement sources say D.C.F.S. placed Shanelle in foster care for more than 2 years. She never went back to her mother.
